My Approach

Over the years I have studied many techniques and protocols, absorbed a multitude of philosophies and worldviews and have spent countless hours in clinical practice refining my skills and understanding of healing and wellness.

I am still constantly in wonder at the nature of the human being and by the clarity and potency of the intelligence that created and continues to maintain each one of us.

In my treatments I am essentially dialoguing with this innate intelligence of ours and allowing it to inform how the session proceeds.  Because of this, every session is different and is based entirely on your body’s needs and priorities at that time.  You will see first hand as we work together how informative your system is and how well it responds when we are able to ask it where to focus and what it needs to resolve an issue.

There is a sound neurological basis for this dialogue and when it is put in the framework of the array of techniques and clinical approaches we have at our fingertips, we have a way of working that can enact great change and reconnection in the system, often very quickly.

In practical terms, I use manual muscle testing, leg length dynamics and what I call “mind language” to communicate with the body.  From there your body will help guide which therapies to focus on.  Treatments will always have a structural component including spinal, extremity and cranial adjusting, but often include nutritional or allergy analysis, emotional work, reflex work, acupuncture meridian therapy, soft tissue/fascial work, and more.  It all depends on you and what suits your needs at the time.  And whether it’s an athletic injury, a sore back or an old trauma that is the issue, this approach will help frame the nature of the stress or insult to the system and show us how we can most effectively manage it.

I love to share this approach with people not only because it is effective at alleviating so many different issues, but also because it gives you a first hand glimpse into the deeper nature of who you are.  You will have a newfound respect and understanding for your body and with that you will have an opportunity to live more in line with your true nature.  This to me is something akin to “health” and I believe is the fundamental goal of all healing modalities.

And with all that said, it is important to know that bloodwork, medical referrals, x-rays, genetic testing, etc. are all part of the scope of my practice and I find it is very important to work in concert with your other practitioners.  We don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater when it comes to medical approaches.  We do however always exhaust conservative treatment measures before we consider engaging drugs, surgery or other interventions that can override the body’s own ability to self-regulate.  There is a time and place for all of it and I am here to help you navigate that and to offer effective means of managing your health holistically.

  • "Many people can pass exams and get degrees to become health care practitioners, but Dr. Paul has a gift you can’t teach. He is intuitive and genuinely cares about his patients’ well being. He is that rare person who is extremely knowledgeable and discerning yet has a never ending desire to learn more. He is that doctor who makes you feel heard, who will study your bloodwork and do homework before your next visit when your issues aren’t straight forward. He recently referred me to a cardiologist for something my primary care physician had overlooked just a month prior. When I told the cardiologist who referred me to him, not only did he have wonderful things to say about him, he also told me he really needed to make an appointment to go see him soon as well! We both agreed we are very fortunate to have someone of his caliber in our area."

  • "I first met Dr. Paul many years ago as he was treating a client that I was working for as private chef/family assistant. I would often accompany this client on her visits. What I witnessed was that Dr. Paul worked with such great compassion and skill, accompanied with love and kindness and a bit of pure of intuition on top. With the adjustments, and a combination of supplementation, this client achieved great success in regaining her strength and health. I was so impressed and enthralled by watching the adjustments and progress that I decide to see Dr. Paul as well. At the time, there was really nothing specific but since then he’s been a great asset to my healing process at different intervals of my life. I would highly recommend Dr. Hutchins- his work goes way beyond Chiropractic."
